“Captain Marty is a Captains Captain”

“I met Captain Marty late September 2017 when I was in need of a captain for my 53 ft Hatteras to complete my journey from Panama City to Daytona beach Florida. I asked my Broker/Captain Roger from Panama City for a recommendation and that there was bad weather forecasted for the last leg of my trip (Fort Pierce to Daytona) and was in desperate need of a seasoned professional as waiting out storm was not an option. Rogers response was “let me see if Captain Marty is available, he loves bad weather “fast forward to this cat walking down the dock at fort pierce right out of central casting (the only thing he was missing was an eye patch and a parrot on his shoulder) to meet me .

Through the night and negotiating 30 to 40 kt winds, donning only rain gear and perched from the open bridge (his choice) he somehow laid our yacht softly on the fuel dock at Titusville in the dead of night. Shoved off for Daytona at first light and there was no letup in the weather.

I cannot say enough at how at ease he made my wife and I feel through adverse conditions and how he handled my new investment as if his own. Captain Marty is a Captains Captain and without a doubt has ice running through his veins. Captain Marty along with his seamanship and breadth of knowledge is the only captain we hire whether a day trip or longer. Thanks Captain!”

“OUTSTANDING PERSON”

Capt. Marty is an outstanding person with extensive experience on the waterways. His skills were tested when asked to pilot my boat from SC to FL. He was able to do this flawlessly in a timely manner with no issues in delivering the boat to its final destination. Furthermore, the boat had experienced engine issues in the last portion of the trip and Capt. Marty was still able to pilot the boat on one engine and managed to dock the boat in a slip with one engine. I would recommend him for transporting a vessel or as a training Captain if the need requires such an individual.

“Captain Ebding provided Captains Services for our recently purchased 1990 Oceans 48 Yacht that we relocated from St Clair Shores Michigan to Lake Monroe Sanford Florida. The trip was 23 days of continuous operation navigating through Lake Erie, the Welland Canal, Lake Ontario, Oswego Canal, Erie Canal, Hudson River, New York Harbor, Jersey Shores, Chesapeake Bay and down the east coast Inter Costal Waterway or outside on the Atlantic Ocean arriving at Jacksonville Florida where we then entered the St. Johns River taking us to our final destination Lake Monroe, Sanford Fl.

The electronics on board the Ocean were 1990 vintage and except for the VHF Transceivers, depth finder equipment and radar were outdated and useless. The Autopilot was inoperative and the navigation equipment, Loran C based is no longer a Navigation source. Captain Ebding’s two hand held GPS’s and a Garmin 4” display Chart Plotter were it for electronics.

The crew consisted of my 50 year old son, his wife, me at 75 years old and my wife. We all had experience with handling small boats (30’ or less) but never a 48 footer that had to be crewed through 30 plus locks and dealing with weather conditions and seas that at times were a real challenge.

The summation is Captain Ebding was most capable for the job, he worked towards making us proficient at the various jobs a crew needs to do and was easy to work with. He made every effort to insure we did not acquire any boat rash when docking or in the locks and performed the daily engine and systems checks. Upon completion of the trip I was presented with a fair and honest bill for his services and without hesitation recommend him to anyone needing a responsible and knowledgeable Captain for their vessel.”
